In
Their Own Words
Our Husband's wear the green fatigue.
We are their wives..
THE IVY LEAGUE
by Kerry Cecil
We married our men, so brave and true
along with the Marine Corps, the proud and few.
Sometime's it is hard, sometime's it is rough.
We QUICKLY LEARNED how to be tough.
When our men deploy leaving us alone
we wait and watch the telephone.
We write them often, yes without fail
to send them our love through the U.S. mail.
So strong is how we all must be
to help our men, defenders of The Land Of The Free.
There are those who will look up to us
and we'll be there without a fuss.
We'll hold our own tears deep inside
while helping others and be their guide.
The public, oh, if they only knew.
WE are the proud, the brave, the few.

The power of the Ivy lies in its ability to
cling and bind, making it a potent symbol of determination and
strength to the Druids.
Ivy can grow, spread and flourish under many conditions...cultivated
land and wasteland...light or near darkness...fertile soil or
upon rubble and stones. It will push its way through tiny cracks
and crevices to reach the light and is strong and difficult
to destroy.

Not just my brother
any more
By Leslie
Finley
For Sgt. Joseph Toledo
You
left in the middle of the night
You were already off to fight
Here one minute
Gone the next
Tear
is all I can remember of that night
Tears for mommy’s little boy
Grown up overnight into a man
Tears for what she fears
Tears for what she lost that night
Not just my brother any more
Watched
you on graduation day
Didn’t recognize you
Now a man so sure of himself
So full of confidence
Ready to take on the world
Not just my brother any more
Called
to fight in the war
Confidence seemed to soar
Ready to fight for what you believe
As you struggle to relieve
Mom’s fears, our fears, the world’s fears
Not just my brother anymore
Can’t
imagine what you saw
Death, destruction, and oppression
You fought it all
Not just my brother anymore
You
stand for freedom and what is right
You stand for those who haven’t a chance to fight
You are a brother to us all
A man
A soldier
A hero
No
words can describe the debt we owe
you and your brothers willing to give it all
Your lives in exchange for the lives of others
No questions asked No answers found
Not just my brother anymore
